As of July 6th, 2009, 11 of our 13 seniors had received and accepted offers to play at the collegiate level. We are very pleased with the performance of both Premier 18s teams this year and wish all of the seniors the best as they start college.

Congratulations to Creighton University, West Texas A&M University, St. Cloud State University, Doane, Dana College, Missouri Western State University, Emporia State, University of Sioux Falls and Nebraska Wesleayn for securing such a talented group of athletes. Our best wishes to all of our seniors who begin their future careers in a couple short months. We?ll miss you all!

PREMIER VOLLEYBALL OUTING & SOCIAL SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 8, 2009

HOLE IN ONE - WIN A 2009 ACURA TSX 4 DR!!!
Brad Smith (Premier Parent), Acura of Omaha has offered a 2009 Acura TSX 4 Dr for a Hole in One Prize.

The 2nd Annual Premier Volleyball Golf Outing & Social will be held at Tiburon Golf Club (10302 S. 168th Street) on Saturday, August 8th. Cost is $100 per golfer and includes welcome gifts, 18 holes of golf with cart, access to the range, flag prizes, refreshments, raffle items, social, silent auction and dinner .

The check-in time (and start of the silent auction) for the four-person Texas scramble format will be 11:00 am - 12:30 p.m., with the shotgun start to sound at 1:00 pm. A social and silent auction will be held following golf with dinner scheduled to be served at approximately 6:00 p.m. Several sponsorship levels are available (see attached brochure). Social/dinner only tickets are available for $25 per person.

NEW THIS YEAR - PRIZE FOR BEST TEAM UNIFORM!

Through partnerships with the Hruska Clinic and Xplosive Edge, Premier Volleyball continues to provide the most well rounded club volleyball experience for young athletes. We believe these partnerships are essential for the growth of Premier Volleyball because they help ensure the physical health of our athletes.

The Xplosive Edge is a strength and conditioning company known for its cutting edge research and technology in the field of maximizing athletic performance. With the integration of biomechanics, the Xplosive Edge will remain years ahead of the competition. The Xplosive Edge is a results driven company that places a major emphasis on decreasing injuries while creating a faster and stronger athlete.

The Hruska Clinic offers a unique approach to physical therapy called Postural Restoration. This approach addresses the underlying faulty movement patterns or mechanics that are directly influencing pain symptoms. Specific exercises are instructed to restore proper alignment and movement strategies. Exercises progress as strength allows, eventually including very dynamic activity, so re-training is similar to the athlete's sport demands.

Premier Volleyball is excited to offer these partnerships to our athletes, who will benefit by becoming more explosive volleyball players while reducing the likelihood of injuries.

X-Edge Nutrition Week May 11-14, 2009

We will be doing nutrition this whole week with all of the Xplosive Edge athletes. Parents are more than welcome and encouraged to come hear the Xplosive Edge staff present on better ways to fuel the body. Each nutrition session will be 75 min. long and will include interaction on a DVD with Dave Ellis who is regarded as one of the best sports nutritionists in the world! Dave has been helping athletes better fuel their bodies for the last 30 years and has consulted the likes of Super Bowl Champions, Several Big 12 and SEC schools and hundreds of Olympic athletes.

Here is the schedule for this week's nutrition seminars, all seminars will be held in either the parents meeting room or the tiki room at the courts. Questions? Contact Gib.

"Project Premier's" Food Drive for Camp Fire Kids

Camp Fire Kids is a weekend food program created to combat childhood hunger in our community. Camp Fire Kids provides healthy food to elementary students who have little to no food to eat on the weekend. This message is being sent on behalf of Greg MacLean, the Great Plains Junior Program Board president and is intended for adult members associated with a junior program. I apologize if you received this message in error.

Dear Junior Affiliates:

The Junior Program Board held its annual election during the recent Regional Tournament. Ballots and ballot boxes were posted at each of the sites and the polls were open for approximately 2 hours. During the election, the JPB election commission was made aware of concerns over notifications and voting opportunities. It became clear that the membership wants more sites and more time to vote.

Therefore, the election commission recommended a method to extend the voting time while preserving the integrity of the 100+ votes cast during Regionals. The JPB voted to extend the voting time through the weekend of the Bid Qualifier, May 2 & 3, 2009. As a result, ballots and ballot boxes will be sent to a tournament location outside of Lincoln and Omaha to allow more opportunities to vote. In addition, sites in Lincoln and Omaha will have additional voting opportunities for those who missed the voting during Regionals.

In order to ensure the security and integrity of the votes cast at Regionals, those ballots have been collected and sent to the Attorney General's office unopened and untallied. So, for those members that have already voted, rest assured that your vote is secure and will be counted. You will not need to, or be able, to vote again. Finally, to preserve the conditions under which the Regional voters voted, only the names on the ballot will be posted at this time, along with the times and locations for the remaining voting opportunities. Dates and times of these sites will be posted on the Great Plains website.

When all of the voting has been completed, the ballots will be opened and tallied at the same time. A Junior Board Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 pm, May 4, 2009, at the Region Office in Ralston to complete the election process.

Below are the additional times and sites available to complete the Junior Board elections.

Premier Volleyball Club,

For the first time, the Xplosive Edge is introducing a Premier 4-Day a week program called the "Xplosive Edge" program! This 4-Day a week program will be done at the courts but we need to get enough girls in the camp to do it. The camp will be 6 weeks long. The camp will be every M/T/Th/F at the courts from 4:00pm to 4:45pm. If you are looking to get huge results fast, this camp is for you. The regular cost of the camp is $395, but for Premier athletes already in the X-edge program the cost will be $295! For Premier athletes that are not currently enrolled in the X-edge program, the cost will be $335. Below is a camp description, we will be pre and post testing as well as providing pre and post workout drinks, body fat testing, advanced nutrition tactics, and much more! Camp will start on Monday March 16th so call Gibb to sign up as camp will fill up fast. If athletes decide to do this Xclusive Camp, they will not train with their team at night! We will only be accepting 12 athletes into this high profile Xclusive Camp! Camp results will be sent to three Universities of your choice.

"Devised to maximize athletic performance, the Xclusive Edge program is an intense 6 week camp for athletes 14yrs+. Each athlete will be pre and post tested to see gains that they made. A program derived from Husker Power?s Performance Principles and Hruska PRI philosophies, the Xplosive edge will make each athlete more powerful, more agile, stronger, and faster. We WILL increase athletic performance. The Xplosive Edge camp consists of strength and explosive lifts, speed and agility drills, and a complete sports nutrition profile with athlete attending camp 4x days per week."

The Hruska Clinic will be coming up to The Courts on Wednesday Jan. 28 to do free screenings for ALL the X-edge participants who have NOT had a screening yet. The screenings will be from 6:30-8:30pm and are highly encouraged for all of the athletes participating in the Xplosive Edge program. Screenings should only be around 10-15 minutes and these screenings take priority over our X-edge workouts if your team is scheduled to train with X-edge on Wednesday night.

All Premier Club members interested in being recruited for college volleyball are encouraged to attend. It's not too early to think about your college options - recommended for parents who's players are 15 & Up. This has been a successful seminar and answers many questions that may come up in your quest for a college scholarship. Since Presidents Day Classic is coming up (as well as qualifiers) and many coaches will be watching, this is a great time to get educated!!

Well this will be an exciting week for volleyball!!!

Just to keep everyone informed here are a few fun things going on!

Our 12 Gold and 13 Silver teams will be joining together to decorate NEBRASKA's locker room at The Qwest tomorrow night!!! They made all sorts of fun signs for the players. Should be fun!! Take lots of pictures girls!!

Also, on Wednesday Penn State, Stanford, Texas and Nebraska will be holding open practices at Qwest Center Omaha. The practice schedule will be as follows:

Stanford: 10-11:30am
Texas: 11:35am-1:05pm
Penn State: 1:20-2:50pm
Nebraska: 2:55-4:25pm

What a great opportunity to watch some of the best volleyball athletes-for FREE!

MANDATORY RULES CLINIC FOR ALL COACHES AND PLAYERS
(parents optional but recommended)

All coaches are required to attend a rules clinic every year. It is helpful for the younger age groups if we also have a few parents that understand scorekeeping and can assist at tournaments when needed.

WANTED!! Parents needed to help setup bleachers at 8:30 am.

The 2009 Club Season is right around the corner. Plans are underway for this year's Premier Volleyball Club. Tryouts for the 2008-2009 Season will begin in November.

Attention all 11U-14U teams:

Gibbie will be up at The Courts on Tuesday (11/11) 7pm-9pm and Thursday (11/13) 7pm-7:30pm to answer questions and for you to drop off your forms!! If you haven't already had the opportunity, stop by and see the strength training equipment and meet Gibbie!!! More X-Edge info.

Also, Marian will be up there on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday beginning at 5pm with extra apparel if you would like to check it out and try on.

On Monday, October 6th and Wednesday, October 22nd at 7pm, Parents and Athletes are welcome to visit with Rick Welch, Premier Club Director and his staff at The Courts (directions below). This meeting will include information such as our mission, coaches, practices, training, competition, travel, fees, and Q&A to follow.

This meeting is not limited to those that played for Premier last year.
We welcome ANY parent or athlete to attend this meeting!!

Come and see what we are all about! Check out "The Courts I and II". Also, check out the Xplosive Edge equipment used for on-site strength training for our Premier Athletes! Mingle with our coaches and catch up with other volleyball parents and athletes.
